Despite nationwide criticism over Donald Trump's call for a "total and complete shutdown" on Muslims entering the U.S., a WBUR poll released Friday shows that it hasn't affected the real estate mogul's standing in New Hampshire as No. 1 in the polls.

However, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has surged to second place, landing himself in a statistical tie with Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

According to the poll:
  • Donald Trump: 27 percent;
  • Chris Christie: 12 percent;
  • Marco Rubio: 11 percent;
  • Ted Cruz: 8 percent;
  • Jeb Bush: 8 percent;
  • John Kasich: 7 percent;
All other candidates polled below the margin of error, with 9 percent undecided.

When polled on key political issues such as ISIS and immigration, 87 percent said the Islamic State posed a major threat, while 11 percent called the terrorist group a minor threat.

Fifty-seven percent said immigration is major threat, while 28 percent called it a minor threat.

According to Politico, in terms of favorability, Rubio led the field with a net positivity rating of 36 points, 58 percent favorable and 22 percent unfavorable. Voters, however, were split on Trump with 46 percent favorable and 43 percent unfavorable.

MassINC conducted the survey from Dec. 6-8, polling 402 likely Republican primary voters in the state via landlines and cellphones. The margin of error is plus or minus 4.9 percentage points.
