CNN's Chris Cuomo on Monday said President Donald Trump's comments criticizing the press, specifically calling the media "the enemy of the American people" could lead to big problems for reporters, Mediaite reports.

"Somebody is going to get hurt. It's just a question of time," he said on CNN's "New Day" show Monday during a conversation with CNN media reporter Brian Stelter.

"If you take someone with a legitimate reason to be upset in the first place, and you pump them up and it starts to become a call to action, somebody's going to get hurt."

Trump on Saturday during a rally in Florida continued to take swings at the press, saying news outlets publish false stories and are part of "the corrupt system." The night before, on Twitter, Trump called out the New York Times, CNN, ABC, CBS and NBC News as "the enemy of the American People."

Cuomo said "it's just a matter of time" before something bad happens to journalists.

"That's how this stuff works," he said. "It works with little kids in a sand box. It works with adults when they're at a bar drinking. And it works right now with our president who is intoxicated by the idea of beating up the media."
