Over the weekend, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist hit the campaign trail to energize minority voters in several cities, including Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Jacksonville, but the campaign would not permit photos to be taken on the plane, reports Bay News 9.

According to Troy Kinsey, who was traveling with Crist, "members of the media are on it, but no photos are allowed" to be taken on the plane the campaign rented.

He also noted that while it would be hard to travel to numerous cities by car, Crist frequently criticizes incumbent Gov. Rick Scott for being a millionaire and owning a private plane. But "the image of Crist flying private, even for a day, could help undercut that message."

The race remains extremely tight, with all of the most recent polls finding the candidates either tied or holding leads within the margin of error.

The most recent survey, which was conducted by CBS News/NYT/YouGov, finds Scott with a 46 percent to 45 percent lead over Crist.

Another poll released Oct. 22 by Quinnipiac University has the race in a dead heat with both candidates receiving 42 percent of the vote, according to the survey of likely voters.

If Libertarian candidate Adrian Wyllie is taken out of the mix, the poll shows Scott and Crist locked again at 44 percent apiece.

Crist did receive some good news concerning the first week of in-person early voting, reports The Miami Herald.

After one full week, Democrats appear to be gaining on the GOP's early lead in pre-Election Day ballots and the number of early votes cast has been declining.

According to the Herald, early voting was lower Sunday than Saturday in South Florida's three biggest counties:  Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach.
