Oops: Celebs Aim Video at One Elector, and Call Her 'Mr.'

Saturday, 17 December 2016 09:22 PM EST

A group of celebrities pleading for electors to vote against President-Elect Donald Trump on Dec. 19 have made a personalized video addressing one of the electors, but in it erroneously referred to a female elector as a “Mr.”

The celebrities made the video for Unite For America, a group recently formed to publicize dissent for Trump as president.

UFA released a public service announcement video on Wednesday with celebrities Martin Sheen, Debra Messing and James Cromwell, among others, begging Republican electors to vote for someone other than Trump. They followed that up with another video specifically aimed at Ashley McMillan, an elector from Kansas and the vice chair of the state’s Republican party.

McMillan, though, is a woman.

Mediate reported the error.

"Mr. McMillan," Sheen says at the start of the video. "Our Founding Fathers built the electoral college to safeguard the American people from the dangers of a demagogue, and to ensure that the presidency only goes to someone who is, to an eminent degree, endowed with the requisite qualifications."

The video is unlisted on YouTube but was still accessible Saturday night.
