Pat Caddell: Obamacare 'Disaster' Could Give Senate to GOP

By    |   Monday, 16 December 2013 04:53 PM EST

Calling the continuing problems with Obamacare a "rolling disaster," former Democratic pollster Pat Caddell says the issue could easily put the Senate under GOP control in 2014 – but Republicans must do their part.

Obamacare keeps getting worse by the day, Caddell said Monday on Fox News Channel's "Your World with Neil Cavuto." "And this reality is pretty grim, and expectations are."

The House Oversight Committee issued a report Monday that the Affordable Care Act's navigators may be putting personal information at risk. That, along with people losing insurance and not finding comparable replacements, has a growing number of people worried.

President Barack Obama's "lie of the year" that people could keep plans and doctors they like "doesn't go away," Caddell said. "That needs to be drilled over and over for the Republicans."

The GOP's biggest challenge, Caddell said, is that they are viewed about equally with Democrats because the party doesn't have an alternative program.

"That is the missing piece they need," he said.

Rep. Mike Kelly, R-Pa., appeared on the program later, outlining a longstanding Republican alternative. President Barack Obama has repeatedly said in speeches that the GOP has no plan of its own.

"We've been going and talking to him. But he's a tough guy to talk to because if you're not speaking his language he doesn't hear you."
