Scott Brown Creates PAC in New Hampshire

Scott Brown Creates PAC in New Hampshire

By    |   Tuesday, 29 October 2013 12:47 PM EDT

Former Sen. Scott Brown is jumping back into politics. The Massachusetts Republican has created a political action committee, the People's Seat PAC, in New Hampshire.

Brown filed the paperwork this month to form the committee, which further suggests the lawyer and former lawmaker wants to hold elected office once again.

And though he represented Massachusetts last time he won an election, now he seems to have his eyes set on its neighbor state, reports the Boston Globe, which suggests he could challenge Democrat Sen. Jeanne Shaheen next year.

Brown, who lost his Senate seat last year to Democrat Elizabeth Warren, appears to be testing the political waters. He visited first-in-the-nation Iowa twice over the summer to chat with voters, saying he was trying to gauge interest in his "brand of leadership and Republicanism."

He is also making appearances at GOP fundraisers.

When the Globe asked Brown at a fundraiser what his future political plans are he said, "I’m doing exactly what I said I was going to do, which is traveling around the country helping other committees, individuals, and groups raise money and raise awareness and try to get [out] my message of problem solving."

Brown owns a home in New Hampshire. Critics say he could have a hard time campaigning in a new state, but Brown has family history in the state and current relatives including his sister, who is listed as the PAC's treasurer, live in the state.

The name of the committee, the People's Seat PAC, refers to a comment he made when he was campaigning in 2010. When Brown was asked if a Republican could take Senator Ted Kennedy's Senate seat, Brown replied, "With all due respect, it’s not the Kennedy seat and it’s not the Democrats’ seat, it’s the people’s seat."
