Brian Babin to Newsmax TV: Dems Must 'Have Their Pound of Flesh'

By    |   Tuesday, 26 January 2021 02:41 PM EST

Rep. Brian Babin, R-Texas, told Newsmax TV on Tuesday that Democrats’ “hatred” for former President Donald Trump is driving them to “ram” impeachment through the Senate.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., on Monday evening sent the article of impeachment against Trump to the Senate, prompting leaders in the upper chamber to schedule his trial to begin on Feb. 8.

Babin told “John Bachman Now” on Tuesday afternoon that Democrats “have so much hatred, they just have to have their pound of flesh even though it’s going to continue to divide this country.”

He added, “It is so ridiculous and out of place to be having an impeachment trial in the U.S. Senate after Donald Trump has left office. Think of how much we could be getting done … if we weren’t doing this.”

Babin went on to say that Democrats “will try to ram [impeachment] through. … I think Republicans are seeing the light and saying this is ridiculous to be doing this … and quite frankly, there could be some Democrats that are getting concerned about it as well.”
