Boehner, McConnell Targets of Senate Conservatives Fund

House Speaker John Boehner has started a "war on conservatives" by compromising on a budget deal that avoided a government shutdown last week, a conservative political action committee's executive director said in an email.

The Washington Post reported Monday the Senate Conservatives Fund's Matt Hoskins, who already has zeroed in on Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, said both leaders are "using their power to discriminate against people they see as a political threat."

"What these leaders are doing to conservatives is no different from what the IRS got caught doing to them this summer," Hoskins wrote.

Both Boehner and McConnell have dismissed the group for its exploits of the Republican Party, with Boehner saying all it is looking for is financial gain.

The group has been urging supporters to donate to the five Senate candidates on its endorsement list for next year's midterm elections in order to increase their coffers so they can rally against the GOP base. National Public Radio described the group as asking for a proverbial divorce from their more establishment-oriented spouses.
