U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken urged Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani to pursue those behind attacks and threats to U.S. and coalition personnel in Iraq, the State Department said on Tuesday.
Blinken spoke with Sudani Monday, the Sate Department revealed, noting that he welcomed the Government of Iraq’s condemnation of the recent attacks and threats to U.S. and Coalition personnel in Iraq.
He also spoke with Sudani regarding the ongoing conflict between Israel and the terrorist organization Hamas.
According to the State Department, Blinken and Sudani committed to work together to ensure regional stability. They further discussed the humanitarian situation in Gaza and America's continued commitment to coordinating with partners in the region to ensure sustained and safe access to food, water, medical care, and other assistance required to meet humanitarian needs.
Blinken also conveyed his appreciation to Sudani for Iraq’s efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza, according to the State Department.
Blinken and Sudani renewed their commitment to continue strengthening the U.S.-Iraq 360-degree partnership and reaffirmed the principles in the bilateral Strategic Framework Agreement.
