Bill Nye, "The Science Guy," will be the guest of Rep. Jim Bridenstine, R-Okla., at President Donald Trump's State of the Union address on Jan. 30.
The announcement was made by Bridenstine's office on Thursday.
Nye gained fame as a children's television show host.
"Bill Nye has been inspiring countless young people to enter the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math since before we used STEM as an acronym," Bridenstine said. "Our country needs these disciplines now more than ever. It is an honor to have ‘The Science Guy' as my guest at the State of the Union address."
An outspoken environmentalist, Nye has been a critic of the Trump administration, labeling it the "anti-science movement," according to The Hill. Bridenstine is Trump's pick to head NASA, but he has been criticized by some lawmakers for his lack of a formal science education, the website reported.
