New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio spent just seven hours at City Hall during the month of May, the same month he began his campaign for president, the New York Post reports.
According to records reviewed by the newspaper, the mayor went to his office six times in May, participating in five phone calls, four events, and two meetings. De Blasio's official calendar showed 152 city events scheduled that month, 50 of which took place at City Hall.
"If he's trying to show New Yorkers that he's over doing the job, he's doing a good job of it," a former aide to the mayor said.
Another former staffer described his performance as "real bad," and added, "at this point, you've got to wonder how much of his heart is really in it."
De Blasio launched his campaign May 16 in a three-minute YouTube video.
"I'm Bill de Blasio and I'm running for president because it's time we put working people first," he said in the video.
A spokesperson for de Blasio told the Post on Tuesday, "Whether at City Hall, Gracie Mansion or on the road, the mayor consistently delivers for 8.6 million New Yorkers."
