Former president Bill Clinton who twice carried the state will be in Wisconsin to campaign for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke who is challenging incumbent Republican Gov. Scott Walker,
the Journal Sentinel reported.
Clinton will join Burke in Milwaukee on Friday, according to
the Wisconsin State Journal. Walker, who would be a potential GOP presidential contender if he wins re-election, has been critical of Hillary Clinton,
Politico reported. Last year, he characterized Hillary Clinton as a Washington insider who can best be challenged by a Republican governor like him,
Capital New York reported.
Bill Clinton worked unsuccessfully to defeat Walker during his 2012 recall election.
The
race is close with Walker and Burke tied at 47 percent in an Oct. 15
Marquette Law School Poll of likely voters. She has made gains among independent voters, according to
the Journal Sentinel.
The former president has been campaigning around the country for Democratic candidates with recent stops in Arkansas, Illinois, New Hampshire, and Kentucky,
Guardian Liberty Voice reported.
Additional details of Clinton's Wisconsin appearance are expected from the Burke campaign on Tuesday.
