If President Joe Biden decides to run for reelection in 2024, he has Sen. Bernie Sanders' vote.

The independent Vermont senator told CNN on Monday he would support Biden if he decides to run again, after initially saying it is "a little too early" to comment.

"I think Biden will probably run again, and if he runs again, I will support him," Sanders said.

Sanders also pledged not to challenge Biden in the primary if he makes another bid. The senator squared off against the president in 2020.

His comments come one day after progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., would not say whether she will back Biden in the next presidential race.

"We'll cross that bridge when we get to it," AOC told CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday

"But I think if the president has a vision, and that's something certainly we're all willing to entertain and examine when the time comes."

Following AOC's comment, the White House confirmed Monday that Biden is planning to seek reelection.

"To be clear, as the president has said repeatedly, he plans to run in 2024," White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre tweeted.

Biden has been struggling with a number of domestic and international issues in recent months, including 40-year high inflation, soaring gas prices, the continuing Russian invasion of Ukraine and a series of mass shootings across the country.

"We should endorse when we get to it," AOC told CNN. "I believe that the president's been doing a very good job so far."

While the progressive representative might approve of the job Biden is doing, the president's poll numbers indicate the majority of Americans do not feel the same way.

According to a Morning Consult poll released last week, just 39% of Americans — an all-time low — approved of Biden's job performance, compared to 42% in May.
