Sanders Ads to Begin Running in California

The Bernie Sanders campaign will run its first ad in California starting this weekend, well ahead of the state's June 7 primary.

Titled "$27," the ad centers around that dollar figure — the average donation to the Sanders campaign. Several supporters speak during the 30-second spot.

"I think it's the best $27 you could spend," says one supporter.

"$27 to make college tuition free," says another.

The ad features many of the Vermont senator's campaign lines, including those around women's rights, Wall Street greed, and America getting involved in "unnecessary wars."

The ad, reports the Los Angeles Times, will debut in San Francisco Friday night and in L.A. Saturday night. His opponent Hillary Clinton will host fundraisers with actor George Clooney both nights, which is why the Sanders campaign chose to play the ads then.

According to The Hill, a couple would have to spend $353,400 to sit with Clinton, Clooney, and his wife at Saturday's fundraiser, to be held at his L.A. mansion. Other tickets are $33,400.

Clinton and Sanders sparred on several issues during their debate in Brooklyn Thursday night. A Real Clear Politics average of several major national polls shows a near dead heat, with Clinton holding a slight edge — 47.2 percent to 46 percent.
