An Arizona reporter claims that Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson said Wednesday he would be open to using drone strikes to help with border security if needed.

When Carson was interviewed by reporter Dennis Welch on Phoenix television station KTVK and was asked if he would consider using drones on the border, he reportedly responded, "I'm suggesting we do what we need to do to secure the border whatever that is."

However, some on Twitter are taking issue with the report, saying that Carson was referring to using drones for surveillance, not for strikes.

A video or audio of the interview has yet to be released to verify what Carson's comments.

The retired neurosurgeon was in Arizona Wednesday to speak at a rally in Phoenix and to visit the U.S.-Mexico border.
