Trump: Durham Report Could Show Barr Either 'Greatest AG' or 'Average'

Attorney General William Barr could go down in history as "the greatest attorney general" or just as "an average guy," but that will depend on what U.S. Attorney John Durham reveals from his investigation into the origins of the Russia probe, President Donald Trump said Thursday.

"Bill Barr and Durham have a chance to be — Bill Barr is great most of the time, but if he wants to be politically correct, he’ll be just another guy," Trump said during an extensive interview with Fox Business' Maria Bartiromo. He said he hopes Durham is "not going to be politically correct."

“I hope he’s doing a great job," Trump said. “[President Barack] Obama knew everything. Vice President [Joe] Biden, as dumb as he may be, knew everything, and everybody else knew.”

Trump added that former FBI Director James Comey, ex-CIA Director John Brennan, and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper "were all terrible and they lied to Congress."

He went on to accuse all involved of "treason," as they "spied on my campaign, they spied both before and after I won, using the intelligence apparatus of the United States to take down a president, a legally elected president, a duly elected president of the United States. It is the single biggest political crime in the history of our country.”

But Barr and Durham "have all the answers," said Trump. "It goes all to Obama, and it goes right to Biden."

Barr has also said that he doesn't think Durham's findings will lead to a criminal investigation for either Obama or Biden, as the concerns of criminality are "focused on others."

Meanwhile, Trump on Thursday also railed against polls that show him trailing Biden, particularly in the nation's swing states.

"This is almost like a replay of four years ago," he said. "They said I was going to lose every swing state the day before. He will lose every swing state. It will be a very short evening. Except I won every swing state, every single one of them. ... Remember they said the night before the election: 'There is no way he gets to 270.' I didn't, I got to 306 in the Electoral College."
