Bachmann Exhorts Voters: 'Don't Settle' for My Opponents

Tuesday, 15 November 2011 03:27 PM EST

Rep. Michele Bachmann may be trailing five opponents in polls on the Republican presidential contest, but she is fighting hard to make up lost ground.

In a new YouTube video, the Minnesota congresswoman, whose campaign has faltered since she won the Iowa Straw Poll in August, takes after all five of those who have beat her in recent polls: Mitt Romney, Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, and Herman Cain.

The video, titled “Don’t Settle,” depicts her rivals as more liberal than conservative on key issues such as abortion, foreign policy, immigration, and the environment.

Story continues below video.

The ad opens by asking viewers: “Who is the consistent conservative?”

In one segment, the video hones in on Romney’s saying abortion should be “safe and legal” and Cain’s referring to it as “a choice that a mother has to make.”

In another segment, Bachmann shows Gingrich sitting alongside Democratic House leader Nancy Pelosi in a promotional campaign from years ago aimed at raising awareness about global warming.

Perry gets a dose of Bachmann criticism for his statements in favor of granting in-state tuition to children of illegal immigrants, while Paul is depicted as seemingly unconcerned about the possibility of Iran developing a nuclear weapon.

The ad ends by imploring viewers, “Don’t Settle . . . ”
