Hillary Clinton reportedly is making her acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention Thursday night in an outfit okayed by legendary fashionista Anna Wintour, inspiration for "The Devil Wears Prada."
"Clinton has been consulting American Vogue editor-in-chief and Democratic Party fundraiser Anna Wintour on her wardrobe choices for key moments of the campaign,
Business of Fashion's Kate Abnett reported on Thursday.
Abnett says Wintour has "approached designers to procure outfits for Clinton, who has settled into a uniform of brightly colored pantsuits and jackets by U.S. designers."
Wintours allegedly icy demeanor and demanding work ethic were said to have inspired Lauren Weisberger's bestseller "The Devil Wears Prada," which became a hit movie with Meryl Streep. The New York Times called the film "a chic, not-so-veiled look at the fashion magazine world and its empress, Anna Wintour."
It's Clinton's second odd link to the king of the underworld this month following Ben Carson's comment at Republican National Convention that she wasn't fit to be president because she "acknowledges Lucifer."
Last week, the retired pediatric neurosurgeon and former presidential candidate asked Republicans if they could elect Clinton
knowing of her college friendship with radical leftist Saul Alinsky who wrote a book that calls "Lucifer, the original radical who gained his own kingdom."
"So are we willing to elect someone as president who has as their role model someone who acknowledges Lucifer?" Carson asked the cheering crowd.
"The secular progressive agenda is antithetical to the principles of the founding of this nation."
A day later, Carson
doubled down on the remark telling Chris Cuomo on CNN's "New Day":
"Recognize that this is a very famous book, 'Rules for Radicals,' and on the dedication page, [Alinsky] acknowledged Lucifer in an admirable way, saying he's the original radical who gained his own kingdom."
According to Carson, Clinton, as a college student, "believed [Alinsky's principles] at that time. And now you look at her actions. You look at what she advocates . . . those are pretty consistent, quite frankly."
Clinton reportedly pays for for all of her campaign outfits, unlike many celebrities who accept freebies from the high-rolling world of fashion merchandising.
Abnett said Wintour declined to comment on her collaboration with Clinton. She said the Clinton campaign did not return calls.
