A six-figure advertising blitz urging Congress to pass tax reform is being launched by Americans for Prosperity (AFP), a group backed by billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch, The Hill reported.

The ads call for the public to tell Congress to "support AFP'S plan to un-rig the economy" by lowering taxes, reducing the number of tax brackets and eliminating special interests, according to the website.

The initial ads target 18 House members, including Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady, R-Texas, and Reps. Peter Roskam, R-Ill., Erik Paulsen R-Minn. and Carlos Curbelo R-Fla., the Hill noted.

The group intends to spend several hundred thousand dollars on social media and web advertising, the Washington Examiner reported.

It also is vowing a grassroots action to convince lawmakers to pass tax reform.

AFP President Tim Phillips said he is hoping the ads push Congress to act quickly on tax reform, the Hill reported.

"We're hoping to see faster progress," Phillips told the website.
