Ex-Sen. Allen: Kaine Is Ducking Union Dispute

Tuesday, 28 June 2011 01:30 PM EDT

Former U.S. Sen. George Allen has accused Tim Kaine, his Democratic rival in his quest to regain his Senate seat from Virginia, of ducking a key union dispute, reports DailyCaller.com.

Kaine, who was the Democratic governor of Virginia from 2006 to 2010 and is former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, has been conspicuously silent on the National Labor Relations Board’s suit to prevent jet manufacturer Boeing from building plants in non-union South Carolina (a so-called “right-to-work” state) rather than in unionized Washington state, Allen says.

Allen wrote in an opinion piece on Politico saying that the suit is “an attack on the freedom and competitiveness of every state with right-to-work laws – including Virginia.”

“Virginians deserve to know if Kaine will stand with me in support of the people and values of Virginia on this important issue of liberty and opportunity,” he continued.
