Anti-AHCA Campaign to Target Older Voters in Arizona, Nevada

Save My Care, a health care advocacy group, is taking aim at Republican lawmakers who voted for the American Health Care Act proposal in Arizona and Nevada, Roll Call reported.

The direct mail campaigns, focusing on 30,000 voters between the ages of 50 and 64, call out Republican Reps. Martha McSally of Arizona and Mark Amodei of Nevada, Roll Call noted.

"Congresswoman McSally's reckless vote will make health care unaffordable for millions of Americans, especially those over 50 years old,” says a message in the mailer, Roll Call reported.

The campaign directly addresses the age of the recipient: "For people like you, between the ages of 50 and 64, we estimate your costs could increase by up to $20,873 per year."

The mailer also includes a graphic of a headline that reads, "Age Tax is Unfair and Unaffordable," citing information from the AARP, Roll Call reported.

Save My Care launched TV and digital ads targeting 24 Republicans — two of which were McSally and Amodei -- after the AHCA bill passed the House, Roll Call reported.

"McSally voted yes even though the bill makes coverage completely unaffordable to people with preexisting conditions. Congresswoman McSally, how could you do this to us?" said the narrator in an ad focusing on McSally.
