Rep. Adam Schiff told Politico that the idea to erect a wall in the chamber where the House Intelligence Committee meets to separate GOP staffers from Democratic aides is a "terrible idea."
The ranking Democrat was responding to a two-week old report that committee chairman Rep. Devin Nunes is planning to erect a barrier between the groups, ostensibly to cut down on the amount of leaks coming from the panel.
"One of the things I've really treasured about our committee is that our staff all sit together, our staff work together ... the Russia investigation has made that difficult, but ... the non-Russia-related work has continued in a very non-partisan way. So the wall is a terrible idea," Schiff told Politico.
"Plus, Mexico will never pay for it. Though I suspect if they did build the wall in our committee, it will be the only wall Trump ever gets built," Schiff said.
