President Donald Trump gave an "incredible" speech to Tuesday night's joint session of Congress, Rep. Adam Kinzinger said on Wednesday, but he would have liked to have heard more about his plans for Syria moving forward.
"He talked very boldly and very correctly about how to defeat ISIS," said the Illinois Republican on Fox News' "America's Newsroom" program.
"The problem is Syria itself, the Civil War that's going on, this Russian involvement."
The "murderous Assad regime" is what is incubating ISIS, said Kinzinger, and he believes Trump has to have a plan, even a post-ISIS plan for Syria.
There are fewer options as days go by, said Kinzinger, but he does believe safe zones are needed so refugees can be returned to Syria.
Kinzinger said he is impressed that Trump talked about the nation's allies being part of the fight in Syria, as "America can't carry this burden alone."
"We're blessed with the ability to do a lot of things that other countries can't," said Kinzinger, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. "We need to recognize that blessing but we have to use our power to bring coalitions together to win these global fights."
