Malzberg on 'Morning Joe': Keep Best of Obamacare, Ditch the Rest

By    |   Monday, 02 December 2013 02:41 PM EST

MSNBC "Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough welcomed Newsmax TV host Steve Malzberg to the show's panel Monday  to discuss the problem-plagued Obamacare rollout.

Malzberg maintained no one in the media was discussing how people signing up for Obamacare might later discover when they visit a doctor that their information was never shared with insurers.

"It's worse than not being able to sign up. If you're signing up, and, God forbid, you go to the doctor and they say, 'Who are you?' What's a person supposed to do? And, nobody is addressing this," Malzberg said.

Malzberg explained he asked guests on his show to write down on a piece of paper the five things they liked about Obamacare, suggesting those are the parts of the law that should be kept.

"I've been pushing every guest I speak with, and I ask, 'Why don't you pass one sheet of paper, keep the pre-existing conditions, the doughnut hole, the five most popular things, and pass it.' Say, 'Here it is. Take the other 1800 pages and throw it out. Here's our plan, and you keep all the good points,'" he said.

Malzberg pointed to NBC correspondent Chuck Todd's report Sunday about the White House admission the website's improvements have made it more like what's found in private business.

"Your own White House correspondent yesterday on "Meet the Press" made a great point saying that the administration itself said, 'Hey, now we're acting like the private sector.' An admission is an admission. Right?" Malzberg said.
