Terrell County, Texas Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland told Newsmax that if the Biden administration wanted to, the southern border could be fixed "overnight."
The problems at the southern border "all boils back to the policies of this administration," Cleveland tells "The Record with Greta Van Susteren" on Tuesday. "It could be solved overnight, and I truly mean that: it could be solved with" President Joe Biden "letting the rest of the world know, 'you're not gonna be allowed in the United States. We're going to have you remain in Mexico,' like we had those policies under President [Donald] Trump. Remain in Mexico Policy works."
But while Cleveland claims the southern border could be solved overnight, the solution, according to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, doesn't appear to be stopping the upcoming migrant caravan, or for that matter, building a border wall.
According to The New York Times, Mayorkas, while speaking to members of the Mexican news media in Oct., said, "From Day 1, this administration has made clear that a border wall is not the answer. That remains our position, and our position has never wavered."
