Kari Lake to Newsmax: Opponent Gallego Is 'Absolutely Radical'

By    |   Monday, 04 November 2024 06:47 PM EST

Arizona GOP Senate candidate Kari Lake told Newsmax on Monday that her Democrat opponent, Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., is "absolutely radical" and the "farthest-left person running this cycle."

Lake and Gallego are locked in a tight Senate race in the Grand Canyon State that the latest polling suggests is getting closer by the day.

"He's voted for open borders, he's voted for every policy that's caused our economy to spiral downward," Lake said during an appearance on Newsmax's "American Agenda." "He's an open borders zealot — that's what [former] President [Donald] Trump calls him and it is absolutely true. We need to make sure that we are not voting for Ruben Gallego — somebody who has empowered the cartels. I want to confront the cartels, end their reign of terror, end their human smuggling and their drug smuggling, which is really taking out an entire generation of young people, the fentanyl crisis."

Lake called Gallego's support of transgender care for children "absolutely barbaric" and likened it to child abuse.

"We know that he's already voted to allow our children to be psychologically abused — I think this is psychological, physical abuse what they're doing to our children — and he supports them getting puberty blockers and taking those pills, administered at schools behind parents' backs," she said. "He supports children being mutilated and having these surgeries where doctors — I hate to even call them doctors — cut off perfectly healthy body parts because our kids have been brainwashed into thinking they're in the wrong body. My opponent supports that. It is absolutely barbaric, and we've got to vote him out of office and send him into retirement. We need honesty in D.C. and America First politicians to go represent the people."

The U.S. Senate hopeful also alerted voters to the fact that there is emergency voting in Arizona's most-populated county on Monday.

"Anybody out there in Arizona, in Maricopa County, who cannot vote tomorrow, you can go to a vote center today and sign an affidavit that you can't vote tomorrow, and they will allow you to vote today," Lake said. "I encourage anybody who may have health issues, and standing in line would be a serious issue, to take advantage of that emergency voting today."
