Israel should go after Iran's nuclear program whether or not they discuss it with the United States first, former Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton told Newsmax on Tuesday.
On "American Agenda," Bolton said, "I think they should do it. And I think they might well do it without consulting with the United States. You know, when they took out Hassan Nasrallah, the leader, the earlier leader of Hezbollah, they didn't consult the United States. And there was a poll taken in Israel after that, 83% of the Israeli people agreed that they were right not to have consulted the United States."
Bolton said the administration has reasons for not wanting the conflict to escalate.
"Look," he said. "The Biden administration just wants this to go away before the election. They don't want to see increased military activity that could cause oil prices in the in the Gulf region to spike and drive price increases at the pump in this country. And also show that the world is a pretty contentious place at the moment, which doesn't reflect well on what the administration has tried to do for the past year."
Bolton added, "Israel is fighting for its existence and they've already dealt significant blows to Hamas and Hezbollah, and Iran for this entire year has paid no price for the actions of its terrorist proxies. And it's now about to pay a price. And I think the Israelis are going to make it a high price.
Bolton also noted that the main threat to the U.S. from Iran is its nuclear program because of the fact it's "perfectly capable of giving a nuclear device to a terrorist group like Hezbollah, like Al Qaeda, like ISIS — to any of them.
"The regime itself is a threat to the United States and the Biden administration from day one has not recognized that reality," Bolton said.
