Former President Donald Trump "would not be coming here if he couldn't win Virginia," Republican Virginia Senate candidate Hung Cao said.
"The last polls came out — he's at 45 [percent] and 45 [percent] with Kamala Harris, I'm at 46 [percent] and 45 [percent] with Tim Kaine," Cao said Monday during an appearance on Newsmax's "National Report."
"But let's not look at the polls. Let's look at the actual number of people that voted; 2.2 million people have already voted, which is almost 50% of the electorate that we expect to come out. And there's 211,000 less Democrats that have voted and 100,000 more Republicans that are voting.
"But if you just sense the feeling on the ground everywhere I go, I'm at a little regional airport right here, and people are excited. They're like, 'Hey, I voted for you.' You know, everywhere I go, whether it's a supermarket or the mall or anything like that, people are just coming out in droves. And I didn't need Beyonce, and I didn't need Jay Z to pull people out. I have just, you know, the people of Virginia and President Trump," he added.
Cao, a retired U.S. Navy captain, is looking to unseat Kaine, a two-time incumbent in Virginia's 10th Congressional District.
No one remembers what Kaine has done for Virginia except that "he was stuck on I-95 with a bottle of Dr. Pepper during a snowstorm," Cao told Newsmax.
"I mean, it's pretty pathetic. He's done nothing for Virginia. He's done nothing for this country, and now he's asking to stay till the year 2030 to fix everything he's done."
