As has been reported at length, the U.S. censorship industrial complex is a sprawling hydra of government-funded offshored NGOs, academic institutions, private entities, and Big Tech. The latest report from the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, headed by Judiciary Chair Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, sketches a portrait of censored parties spanning from conservatives — chief among them being Newsmax — to "everyday Americans of all political affiliations."
Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., a member of the House Judiciary Committee, told Newsmax on Tuesday that the parties involved in the censoring of Americans — the government bodies who offshored censorship requests to the private sector — should be defunded, and those in the private sector receiving the American taxpayer dollar, should be cut off.
Those in the private sector, Biggs tells "The Chris Salcedo Show," they "should not have a job. Number two is that we should be making sure we're not giving grants or government dollars — taxpayer dollars — to these universities that were participating in that."
"The third thing is we need to use the budget process itself to defund positions that these individuals within the government held."
In the report, two universities were named, working on behalf of the federal government to promote censorship on social media. They include Stanford University and the University of Washington.
"So you had the government colluding with universities," Biggs continued, "you had the government colluding with Big Tech, and all to do what? To control the populous. To stop elections. To actually censor people — to prevent us from having freedom of thought and expression. Those people within the government should be fired. They should be gone."
Speaking on the "uni-party" and the unelected government bureaucrats, which the congressman referred to as the "Deep State," Biggs noted that these players "are trying to protect" their "own." And that these "reports are coming out grudgingly. And as you see" the reports come out "leak by leak by leak; that's because the uni-party wants to make sure it stays in power. We're trying to get 'em out of power, and that's the way it's going to go right now."
