The head of the Zionist Organization of America wonders if President Barack Obama will "betray Israel" after the upcoming election.
In a full-page New York Times ad, a preview of which was sent to Newsmax, Morton Klein references an email released by WikiLeaks that talked about the Obama administration's rocky relationship with Israel, often called America's greatest ally.
"There is a distinct possibility that the administration may seek a new UN Security Council Resolution embodying the two-state, with [pre-] 1967 lines and agreed land swaps, and some vague statements about Jerusalem," Klein quotes a leaked email written by Stuart Eizenstat, who worked in the administrations of Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.
Klein then asked whether Obama will take a different route on UN Security Council resolutions concerning Israel and vote in favor of them instead of vetoing them.
"The signs that this is indeed the case are numerous," Klein wrote.
Klein then listed reasons why it appears Obama might make this change to U.S. policy.
He argued a decision like this could threaten the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians, and it could eventually lead to Israel being taken over by Hamas and Iran.
"We urge all: Call your member of Congress to urge the president to veto any such dangerous anti-Israel resolution," Klein wrote.
Israel recently suspended cooperation with UNESCO, the UN's cultural agency, for adopting a draft resolution that Israel claims denies the deep-rooted Jewish connection to holy sites in Jerusalem.
