Voters are more closely aligned ideologically with Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump than President Joe Biden on nearly every issue, including foreign policy, climate change, immigration and even abortion, according to a recent poll released by YouGov/BluePrint Polling.
Voters said Trump is "close to my views" on every issue except one presented in the survey, including abortion, which 38% of respondents said Trump was closer to their views than Biden (37%).
"The message from voters is loud and clear — Biden's policies are a failure," Karoline Leavitt, a spokeswoman for Make America Great Again Inc., told the Washington Examiner. "America wants a return to the prosperity of the Trump Era. That message will be evident on Nov. 5, 2024, when the nation sends Donald Trump back to the White House."
On inflation, voters said Trump reflects their views better, 44% to 33%. On the Israel-Palestinian issue, Trump is ahead 41% to 30%. Trump wins on border issues, 44% to 28%; on crime, 44% to 32%; and on climate change, 39% to 31%.
"There’s no sugarcoating it — the Biden campaign has work to do," said Evan Roth Smith, Blueprint Polling’s head pollster, in a news release. "On almost every political issue, American voters view Trump as closer to their ideological position than Biden, and see Biden as more extreme than Trump."
Biden was closer to views of those surveyed on one issue — election integrity, 40% to 38%.
But when it comes to corruption, 38% of voters said Trump was closer to their views compared to 32% for Biden, who is under an impeachment inquiry in the House and whose son Hunter Biden did not comply with a House subpoena to testify and is facing nine tax and gun charges across two indictments.
This survey comes less than a week after a Bloomberg poll found Trump, for the first time in that survey, overtook Biden to lead in all seven swing states, including a 9-point lead in North Carolina and 6-point lead in Georgia.
YouGov/Blueprint surveyed 1,012 voters from Dec. 2-5 and the poll had margin of error of +/- 3.4 percentage points, with a 95% level of confidence.
