Once a heavyweight GOP contender for the White House, Scott Walker's poll numbers have plunged into crisis as a new
CNN poll released Sunday placed the Wisconsin governor's support at the bottom tier with less than 0.5 percent,
The Guardian reports.
"Walker’s collapse is especially stark," said the network’s report on the survey. "Celebrated by conservatives – in the party’s base and its donor class alike – for his union-busting efforts in Wisconsin, Walker at one point led the field in the key early voting state of Iowa."
But now, according to
Real Clear Politics, Walker only has 1.8 percent support among Republicans and an NBC survey reveals that only 1 percent of Republicans believe he will be the Republican nominee.
Despite Walker's nosedive in the polls, his press secretary Kirsten Kukowski noted on Twitter:
But, as the Wisconsin governor ranks below 11 other Republican candidates with his poll numbers falling from 5 percent to less than 0.5 percent and after he canceled an appearance this weekend in Michigan due to "inclement weather," SE Cupp, a conservative commentator, told CNN that Walker's strategy is "aggressively boring" and "[h]e cannot break through."
According to the Guardian, there is much speculation that Walker will be "the next one out" – referring to former Texas Governor Rick Perry who withdrew from the race last week.

But his campaign manager, Rick Wiley, dismissed suggestions that he was about to be ousted.
"I’m not going anywhere," he told the
Madison Capital Times. "The vicious rumor cycle has begun. Reports of my demise are greatly exaggerated."
Meanwhile, the CNN/ORC poll
also showed Trump at 24 percent, down from 32 percent and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina shooting up from 3 percent to 15 percent, ahead of Ben Carson, who is now third, with 14 percent.
