The Congressional Leadership Fund is launching a new ad in Virginia to boost GOP House candidate Denver Riggleman in his race with Democrat Leslie Cockburn, The Washington Post is reporting.
The ad comes as Cockburn has outraised Riggleman by more than 2 to 1, the newspaper reported.
The CLF, a super PAC tied to House Republican leadership, was set to begin airing the new ad on Wednesday in the Roanoke media market, Roll Call noted. The ad will run straight through Election Day.
The ad tries to link Cockburn with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. According to Roll Call, the ad charges Pelosi “handpicked liberal Leslie Cockburn because they share Washington values.”
It claims Riggleman represents “Virginia values.”
A New York Times/Sienna College poll released Monday showed Cockburn held a slim lead of 46 to 45 percent over Riggleman. The margin of error was plus or minus 4.6 percent.
