New data from the California Health and Human Services Agency suggests that some California counties with high vaccination rates are also experiencing high levels of COVID-19 cases.
Some of the counties with the highest rates of vaccination and cases include: Los Angeles, San Diego, Alameda, Contra Costa and San Francisco. Conversely, Modoc, Glenn, Lassen, Del Norte and San Benito counties, which have low vaccination rates, also have a low number of COVID-19 cases reported.
According to a CBS report, University of California San Francisco infectious disease expert Dr. Phillip Norris attributed the increased case count in highly vaccinated counties to dense populations.
“If there are a lot of people around you’re more likely to bump into one who has COVID,” Norris stated.
According to The Mercury News, Dr. Stephen Luby, a medical professor specializing in infectious diseases at Stanford University, echoed Norris's point on population density being a factor for increased cases among areas of high vaccination.
“There are a number of issues that contribute to transmission,” Luby states. “In high-density urban settings, for example, even with a higher level of vaccine coverage, there can still be a lot of exposure to unvaccinated folks and potentially to folks who are vaccinated but are asymptomatically shedding the delta variant.”
But, according to an episode of the "Dark Horse Podcast" which featured Dr. Robert Malone, the self-proclaimed inventor of mRNA technology used in COVID-19 vaccines, Steve Kirsch, a medical expert, and evolutionary biologist Dr. Bret Weinstein, the podcast's host, the panel indicated that some COVID-19 vaccines may pose risks including death as well as inefficiencies or deficiencies as reported by the vaccine adverse event reporting system (or VAERS)
Kirsch, when referring to a now-deleted tweet showing a spike in adverse events reported in the VAERS, stated, “the public doesn’t know how many people have died from the vaccine. It could be only 1% of reports that are actually reported…but it’s higher. I guarantee that it’s higher.”
Kirsch further added that the deaths reported by the COVID-19 vaccines “are more deaths than for all 70 other vaccines combined over the last 30 years.”
