An attorney for former FBI lawyer Lisa Page says she will not appear for a private interview Wednesday with two House committees, despite a subpoena.

Page's lawyer says she didn't have enough time to prepare and had asked the House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform Committees to schedule another date. Because they would not, "Lisa is not going to appear for an interview at this time," says Amy Jeffress.

The committees are interested in Page as part of their investigation into bias at the Justice Department. Page exchanged text messages critical of Donald Trump with FBI agent Peter Strzok, who will testify publicly before the panel Thursday.

Page and Strzok both worked on the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails and, later, special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation.

According to Politico reporter Kyle Cheney, Page’s lawyer said in a statement the congressional committees "would be asking Lisa about materials that she has yet been shown."

"In fact, Lisa and I went to the FBI today to review the materials that were previously produced to Congress relating to her proposed interview, but after waiting for more than three hours, we were not provided with any documents," the statement read. "We have asked the Committee to schedule another date that would allow sufficient time for her to prepare. The Committees have not honored this request. As a result, Lisa is not going to appear for an interview at this time."

The subpoena was issued last Saturday for Page to appear on Wednesday.
