President Barack Obama says no one has given more for American freedom and security than the families of those who have died for their country.
Obama is implicitly rebuking Donald Trump during a speech to the annual convention of the Disabled American Veterans in Atlanta. He says the U.S. must do everything it can to honor families whose relatives have died serving in the military.
Obama says "Gold Star families" inspire the country every day. He says they're a powerful reminder of America's true strength. Gold Star families are those that have lost a close relative in military service.
The president's comments come as Trump faces bipartisan condemnation for comments criticizing the Muslim parents of an Army captain killed in Iraq.
