GOP presidential rivals Govs. Chris Christie of New Jersey and Scott Walker of  Wisconsin blasted front-runner Donald Trump on Sunday for offering a "simplistic" plan on immigration and parroting Democrats' ideas.

Appearing on CBS's "Face the Nation,"  Christie, called Trump's approach to immigration "just too simplistic."

"You know, the idea of building a wall, kicking everyone out and ending birthright citizenship, all sounds appealing to some folks," Christie said. "But I just think it’s a very complicated problem."

He called, instead for a discussion of "the things that we can fix and fix simply without having to amend the Constitution" referring to a controversial proposal to end the automatic granting of citizenship to children of people in the U.S. illegally.

"It needs someone who understands how to do complicated and nuanced solution to the problem," Christie added. "And, you know, the fact is we can do this the right way. And we should do it the right way."

Walker,  appearing on ABC's "This Week," said Trump sounded like a Democrat when he attacked Walker's record in Wisconsin earlier on Sunday.

"Well, he’s using the talking points of the Democrats," Walker told host George Stephanopoulos. "They didn’t work in the past. They’re not going to work now."

"Our roads are actually better," Walker said of Wisconsin. "Our schools are better. Our state is better."

Walker, who has gone back and forth on amending the Constitution over birthright citizenship, told Stephanopoulos  Sunday that he's against any such repeal.

"Any discussion that goes beyond securing the border and enforcing the laws are things that should be a red flag to voters out there, who for years have heard lip service from politicians and are understandably angry because those politicians haven't been committed to following through on those promises."
