Former President Donald Trump Friday hailed an endorsement from conservative media star Tucker Carlson, who has made it official he will be voting for Trump in the 2024 election.
"I became an active Trump supporter when they raided Mar-A-Lago last summer," Carlson said in an interview Thursday with Roseanne Barr on her podcast. "That just can’t stand. I’m voting for Trump and if they convict him, I will send him the max donation, and I will lead protests. That’s how I feel.”
"Tucker knows 2024 isn’t an ordinary election," Trump's campaign said in an announcement about Carlson's endorsement. "It’s about stopping our elections from being taken over by the FBI, rogue prosecutors, and nameless bureaucrats hidden within the Department of Justice."
Carlson further told Barr that he has "always agreed with Trump's policies," even if it meant "losing friends over it."
Carlson, after leaving Fox News, posted an interview via X, formerly Twitter, with Trump, the front-runner for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination.
Ahead of the first Republican debate of the season, Trump announced he would pre-record an interview with Carlson, which was posted on X minutes before the debate aired on Fox News.
Meanwhile, Carlson told Barr that he's dismissing speculation that Trump could choose him as his running mate in 2024, telling her he's "flattered" by the idea but considers it as likely as "an asteroid striking the Earth" that he'd be asked.
He also commented that he agrees with Trump "on a lot," but even if he disagreed with him he'd "still be a Trump supporter."
"You cannot allow the regime, the president of the United States, to use the Justice Department to knock the front-runner out of the race," Carlson said. "It's bigger than Trump; it's bigger than Biden; it's a question of, you know, do you want to live in a free country with a functioning justice system."
