President Donald Trump's speech in front of a group of young conservatives occurred next to a projected image of a fake presidential seal that resembles the Russian coat of arms — and, instead of arrows, the eagle in the image is grasping golf clubs.
The Washington Post reported early Thursday that the seal is almost the same as the aforementioned Russian symbol. The eagle has two heads instead of one, for example, while the flag emblazoned on the animal's chest is a different shape.
What's more, the doctored seal contains a banner above the eagle that reads "45 es un títere." In Spanish, that means "45 is a puppet." The actual presidential seal's banner carries the familiar "E pluribus unum" phrase.
The Post noted that the parody banner appears on several items for sale at the website inktale.com. A user named OneTermDonnie, who claims to be in Richmond, Virginia, is the actual seller.
"Dedicated to the cause of ensuring Donald Trump serves no more than one term as the President of the United States," the seller's profile reads. The person has well over 100 products for sale on the e-commerce platform.
Trump spoke at Turning Point USA's Teen Student Action Summit 2019 on Tuesday. He was onstage for nearly an hour and a half, and the seal was projected onto a screen behind him the entire time, the Post reported.
"It was a last-minute A/V mistake — and I can't figure out where the breakdown was — but it was a last minute throw-up, and that's all it was," a Turning Point USA spokesman told the Post. "I can't figure out who did it yet.
"I don't know where they got the image from."
