Trump Invites Media on Private Plane, Considers Presidential Bid

By    |   Monday, 19 January 2015 05:13 PM EST

Multibillionaire Donald Trump is at it again, telling a tea party gathering in South Carolina that he is giving "serious" consideration to a White House run in 2016, while he invites "select" reporters aboard his $100 million private Boeing 757 airplane for an exclusive meeting with "The Donald" himself.

Trump, in Myrtle Beach for the 2015 South Carolina Tea Party Coalition Convention, was the keynote speaker, spending most of his 30-minute address describing himself as the best person to lead the country.

"I can get things done," he told the gathering of about 800 people. "I know how to do it."

The star of TV's "The Apprentice" likely is a big part of the reason why the convention sold out, Breitbart News reports.

Trump spoke against Mitt Romney, calling his likely third try for the White House "outrageous," and also criticized Jeb Bush, saying "the last thing this country needs is another Bush," The State reports.

While Trump will have to share the stage with other possible contenders, including Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, Dr. Ben Carson, and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, the invitation to luxuriate in the posh splendor of Trump's private airplane is likely to impress even the most jaded of political reporters.

The airplane, as is noted in a YouTube video, is the "Ferrari in the airplane category," Trump's longtime personal pilot John Duncan notes.

It seats 43 passengers, has a 16-hour flight range, cruises at 500 miles per hour, features gold-plated seat belts and sink in the master bathroom, and enough gold which "if melted down could gold-plate the outside of a Greyhound bus," the video notes.

The plane features two bedrooms, a dining room, lounges, and a private theater with a 57-inch-screen.

"This website didn’t exactly go into 'swoon mode' when New York real estate mogul and reality television star Donald Trump signaled his interest in exploring a 2016 presidential bid last week," Fitsnews reports.

"Of course that was before he invited us aboard his private jet. Yeah … now we’re swooning."
