Former President Donald Trump lauded the Michigan Supreme Court for stopping state Democrats' "pathetic gambit" to keep him off the 2024 election ballot.
Michigan’s Supreme Court on Wednesday said it will not hear an appeal of a lower court's ruling from groups seeking to keep Trump from appearing on the state’s primary election ballot.
"The Michigan Supreme Court has strongly and rightfully denied the Desperate Democrat attempt to take the leading Candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election, me, off the ballot in the Great State of Michigan," Trump posted on Truth Social.
"This pathetic gambit to rig the Election has failed all across the Country, including in States that have historically leaned heavily toward the Democrats. Colorado is the only State to have fallen prey to the scheme."
The Colorado Supreme Court on Dec. 19 ruled that Trump cannot appear on the state’s ballot in next year's presidential election due to his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol by his supporters. The decision is expected to be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court.
"That 4-3 Colorado Supreme Court decision, which they themselves stayed, thus keeping me on the ballot as we go up to the U.S. Supreme Court, is being ridiculed and mocked all over the World," Trump said Wednesday.
"We have to prevent the 2024 Election from being Rigged and Stolen like they stole 2020 — just look at the complete mess we have as a result with Crooked Joe Biden violently destroying everything in his sight, from our once-great Economy to our once-fair Justice System. We have to save our Country from decline and the Radical Left. Make America Great Again!"
Politicians in numerous other states have investigated removing Trump from their state ballot, Newsweek reported last week.
In California, Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis wrote a letter to the secretary of state urging that "every legal option" be explored to remove Trump from the ballot.
And in Maine, Secretary of State Shenna Bellows is reviewing a case to remove Trump from the primary ballot there, Newsweek reported.
Meanwhile, Breitbart reported Friday that Republican state lawmakers were drafting legislation to remove President Joe Biden from the ballot in key swing states Arizona, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.
