A District Court ruling is expected by the end of Monday on whether to force former White House counsel Don McGahn to testify as part of the impeachment inquiry.

According to CNN, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson will issue a decision that could drastically impact House Democrats' efforts to impeach President Donald Trump over allegations that he used his office for political gain. If McGahn is forced to testify, it's not yet clear whether he would speak to members of Congress in a public or private setting.

McGahn served in the White House starting on the day Trump was inaugurated, Jan. 20, 2017. He departed the administration on Oct. 17, 2018, less than two weeks after Justice Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed for the Supreme Court — an effort in which McGahn played a central role.

The impeachment probe is based around Trump's actions with Ukraine and whether he held up U.S. military aid to force Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter for corruption. There are also claims that Trump dangled an Oval Office meeting with new Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy if he were to order the investigation.

The House Intelligence Committee has spoken with several witnesses in both public and private testimony as part of the probe. The White House, however, blocked the panel from speaking with several officials, McGahn included.
