President Donald Trump says he’s determined to bring about the biggest tax cuts "ever in the history of this country" — and "hopefully before the end of the year, but maybe much sooner than that."
In an interview aired on "Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo," Trump said there’s "tremendous spirit" for tax reform.
"It will be the biggest cuts ever in the history of this country," Trump said. "I think that there's tremendous appetite, there's tremendous spirit for it. Not only by the people we're dealing with in Congress, but for the people out there that want to see something… it can be $5,000 average per individual per group. And so I'm really looking forward to it."
"I think we are going to get our taxes," he said. "I think it is going to be — hopefully before the end of the year but maybe much sooner than that."
He also called his tax and healthcare reform a way to promote "tremendous growth" and address the debt and deficit.
"Well, it’s going to be all growth…," he said. "I think that growth can be staggering. I also think we have a lot of waste in this country. And we’ll be doing other things. We will be doing welfare reform. I mean that’s coming up."
"And whether people like it or not," he added. "You know people don’t like having a house and working three jobs and having somebody nearby where their living better than the person with the three jobs. It’s not fair. And that’s all coming up, believe me that’s going to be out there very soon."
"I want to get the taxes first. I want to get healthcare. We’re doing a big infrastructure bill which will be a very positive thing. But we’re going to have tremendous growth," Trump said.
In his sit-down, Trump also heaped praise on China’s President Xi Jinping and his actions against North Korea, calling the leader a "good man" who’s been helping the United States with the escalated tensions over the North’s nuclear missile buildup.
"He's for China and I'm for the U.S., OK? So we start off with that, but we do have a very good — I would say an exceptional relationship," Trump said. "And China's really helping us, and — well, also with respect to North Korea, 93 percent of things going into North Korea come through China. China is big stuff."
On the response of leaders of Europe to his tough stance against the current Iran nuclear deal, Trump said he’s told them "just keep making money. Don’t worry."
"When Iran buys things from Germany,…France… they were going to buy Boeings," he said. "I don't know what's going to happen with that deal. When they buy those things, it is a little harder. I told them just keep making money. Don't worry. "
