Trump: Mar-a-Lago Records Included Empty Folders

By    |   Wednesday, 18 January 2023 01:12 PM EST

Former President Donald Trump says records found by FBI agents at Mar-a-Lago included hundreds of empty folders that had been used to hold papers later collected following meetings.

The former president also took a jab at the Department of Justice and FBI, suggesting the agencies could plant documents in the folders.

Trump used Truth Social on Monday to unleash several comments concerning the records found at his Florida estate and documents found at the home and a former office of President Joe Biden.

"Page 1: The Fake News Media & Crooked Democrats (That's been proven!) keep saying I had a 'large number of documents' in order to make the Biden Classified Docs look less significant," Trump posted on Truth Social.

"When I was in the Oval Office, or elsewhere, & 'papers' were distributed to groups of people & me, they would often be in a striped paper folder with 'Classified' or 'Confidential' or another word on them. When the session was over, they would collect the paper(s), but not the folders, & I saved hundreds of them..."

Trump said he kept folders as keepsakes.

"Page 2: Remember, these were just ordinary, inexpensive folders with various words printed on them, but they were a 'cool' keepsake. Perhaps the Gestapo took some of these empty folders when they Raided Mar-a-Lago, & counted them as a document, which they are not," Trump posted.

"It's also possible that the Trump Hating Marxist Thugs in charge will 'plant' documents while they're in possession of the material. As President, and based on the Presidential Records Act & Socks Case, I did NOTHING WRONG. JOE DID!"

Trump went on to question how government officials are handling the Biden situation compared to how they treated the former president.

"Page 3: Biden is being treated so smuch [sic] better than me, I’m shocked (not really!). Why aren’t they raiding his house, & how come his representatives and lawyers are allowed to work together with the Gestopo [sic] in looking for documents, when my lawyers & representatives were not allowed anywhere near the search," Trump posted.

"We weren't even allowed to know what they took when they raided my home. 'Please leave the premises,' they said, & then lugged out everything they could, including my Passports & Med Recs."

The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday that as classified Biden documents were discovered at multiple locations, including the Penn Biden Center and the Wilmington, Delaware, home of Hunter and Joe Biden, the DOJ decided against having FBI agents monitor the Biden lawyers' search for classified documents.

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland has appointed special counsels in both the Trump and Biden classified documents cases.
