President Donald Trump has hired Republican National Committee co-chairman Bob Paduchik to oversee its efforts in Ohio, the Washington Examiner reports.
Paduchik, who hails from Ohio, was hired after GOP operatives expressed concern about the Trump campaign’s preparations in key states ahead of the 2020 election, having ran Trump’s Ohio campaign in 2016. He also headed former President George W. Bush’s Ohio campaigns in 2000 and 2004, as well as Ohio Republican Sen. Rob Portman’s successful senatorial campaign in 2010. He will not run for re-election as co-chair of the RNC.
"Bob was a tremendous asset to my 2016 campaign and his leadership in the 2020 cycle will help us win again,” Trump said in a statement from the RNC. “Bob is a total winner.”
Tommy Hicks, an adviser to Trump’s super PAC, America First Action, and his outside group, America First Policies, hopes to succeed Paduchik as RNC co-chair. Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale issued a statement of support for Hicks, whose father, Tom Hicks, is a top GOP donor.
“I am thrilled to support Tommy Hicks in his campaign for RNC co-chair,” Parscale said.
