Rachel Bovard, a conservative strategist, called billionaire Tom Steyer’s campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination a "vanity run."

Bovard, a senior director of policy at the Conservative Partnership Institute, made her comments during a Tuesday interview on Hill.TV.

“Definition of a vanity run,” she said about Steyer’s bid.

And she added: “For the large majority of Democrats…he’s a distraction.”

Meanwhile, Steyer picked up his first presidential endorsement on Tuesday. Former South Carolina state Rep. Harold Mitchell announced he would back him and said he was “the best candidate that can address climate and environmental justice issues.”
