Tea party activists are threatening to refer to the Affordable Care Act as "Boehnercare" rather than "Obamacare" if House Speaker John Boehner fails to back efforts by legislators to defund the law.
The conservatives want to make sure any new spending bill refrains from allocating money to the Affordable Care Act, even if that causes a government shutdown. A shutdown will occur if no spending bill is approved by Sept. 30.
"If he funds it, he will own it," Janet Porter, president of Faith2Action, one of the groups participating in the rally, told
The Washington Times.
Conservative radio talk-show host Mark Levin coined the term "Boehnercare" on his program last week.

"Rather than calling it Obamacare, we should call it Boehnercare" if the speaker supports a spending bill that includes funding for the health care law, Levin said, according to
The Hill.
"So I think I’m going to call it Boehnercare if I can remember from time to time, certainly more often, because Boehner won’t even fight. Boehner, he’s just – is the word 'pathetic' appropriate?"
"Obamacare" started off as a derogative description of the health care act, but last year's presidential debates, President Barack Obama
said he liked the term and embraced it.
