Report: Strauss-Kahn Friends Try to Pay Off Maid

Friends of accused sex attacker Dominique Strauss-Kahn, former head of the International Monetary Fund, have attempted clandestinely to pay off the family of his alleged victim to get him off the hook, the New York Post reports.

The paper’s main source for this information is an unnamed French businesswoman who claims to be close to Strauss-Kahn and his family.

"They already talked with her family,” the Post quotes her as saying. “For sure, it's going to end up on a quiet note . . . He'll get out of it and will fly back to France. He won't spend time in jail. The woman will get a lot of money.”

The amount offered to the victim and her family in a remote, primitive village in Guinea, West Africa, is in the seven figures, the source told the Post.


Strauss-Kahn stepped down from his IMF post after a hotel maid in New York City accused him of sexual assault. Investigators in the case say they have matched his DNA to semen found on her shirt.
