Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams on Wednesday said she would be "honored" to be vice president of the Democratic nominee.

"I certainly would. I mean, I don't want to be coy," Abrams said during a radio appearance on WBUR. "There are those who advised me against saying that out loud. But, the reality is, of course, the work that I want to see for America, the progress I want to see us make, I would be honored to be the running mate of the Democratic nominee."

Abrams lost to Republican Brian Kemp by almost 55,000 votes in 2018. Since the election, she is focused on expanding the work of her voting rights initiative, Fair Fight 2020, to make sure all eligible ballots in next year's election is counted.

"My next step will be determined after this cycle, because there are other jobs I may wish to stand for," she said. "But my focus has to be on making sure we preserve our democracy. And that means fighting voter suppression where it occurs."

Former Vice President Joe Biden is reportedly considering naming Abrams as his vice-presidential pick although both camps have denied those rumors.
