Two of the Spice Girls were keeping a spicy secret at the height of their fame – Mel B (Scary Spice) and Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) hooked up and had a romantic relationship.
Mel B dropped the bombshell during an interview with Piers Morgan for his new ITV show "Life Stories" that aired Monday with "Good Morning Britain, " USA Today reported.
The slip came after Morgan prompted her to respond to a longstanding rumor that the two Spice Girls had previously shared a romantic relationship together.
"She's going to hate me for this because she's all posh in her country house with her husband," the 43-year-old “America's Got Talent” judge said of Halliwell.
Shortly after the revelation, a 2003 interview with Halliwell, in which she admitted to sleeping with one of her bandmates, re-surfaced to add fuel to the fire.
"It is part of experimenting. I was drunk at the time," the fire-haired Spice Girl said, according to Metro. "I could never ever say who it was."
Now Mel B has admitted it was her.
"We were best friends. It just happened," she told Piers, per Metro. "Have you ever done that? Yeah and I’ve said it now. All done.'"
The Sun has since reported that the confession could threaten the Spice Girls upcoming summer tour. According to the report, there were concerns that the news may upset Halliwell's husband and cause issues between them.
"The girls all know Mel struggles to keep her mouth shut but Mel C who was in the audience was visibly horrified when it all came out," a source said. "The tour is just two months away they don’t want anything jeopardizing it."
